Open your third eye network to @thewillowswork because she consistently uses her platform to have important and insightful conversations about the biopolitics of chronicle illness. This artwork from @frizzkidart is perfect, “disabled people do not exist to inspire us.” We all exist to pursue our own destinies, not to inspire others and that goes for wellness as well. For your third eye meditation, let’s be mindful of how our ideas of wellness perpetuate exclusionary neoliberal capitalist ideas. From Willow herself: “I think I'd like to amplify the idea that you can pursue wellness without looking down on sick people. Wellness is a gift, but wellness CULTURE has roots in neoliberal capitalism. We're taught that our health is 100% under our control: that we can move, eat, and buy the right things to have the "right" body/mind. What does it imply then, when people are ill? We must approach wellness from a place of compassion for ourselves and for others.” At Vibrations, we want to amplify that there’s no image of wellness, posts can’t heal you - it is what you do to make yourself feel well that makes us capable of compassion for each other, and no marketing scheme can sell that to you.
